The Toronto Blue Jays signed center fielder Colby Rasmus to a one-year contract.
The deal, which allows the sides to avoid arbitration, is worth $2.7 million for Rasmus.
The 25-year-old was acquired from the St. Louis Cardinals at the trading deadline last season.
He struggled in his limited time with Toronto, batting .173 with three home runs and 13 RBIs in 133 at-bats.
Rasmus had his best season in 2010 with the Cardinals, batting .276 while swatting 23 homers and driving in 63 runs.
