The Toronto Blue Jays have optioned right-hander Joel Carreno to Triple-A Las Vegas after he lost his first major league start. Carreno gave up four runs and six hits in six innings Sunday against the Cleveland Indians. He allowed a pair of home runs to Carlos Santana. Carreno struck out three and walked four. Toronto manager John Farrell said left-hander Aaron Laffey will be called up from Las Vegas and will be used out of the bullpen. Toronto won't need a fifth starter until April 21. Carreno pitched in relief 11 times a year ago for the Blue Jays, who play their home opener Monday night against Boston.

With the Toronto Blue Jays in town for opening weekend, a familiar face has returned to Progressive Field. Can the Blue Jays live up to the hype?

This year’s version of the Toronto Blue Jays has a buzz around it like I haven’t felt in quite some time. Alex Anthopoulos has reignited a spark that became the norm in the late 80’s and early 90’s. And with John Farrell leading the way as field general, you can bet that his playoff experience with the Boston Red Sox will be put to good use when leading his young ...

Salty, what were you thinking? It only took us 4 games this year. Tonight the Red Sox prevailed 4-2 against the Toronto Blue Jays to earn their first win of the season. Once again the Red Sox scored late runs to take the lead, but this time the bullpen actually held on. The Red Sox comeback in the top of the 9th is almost assured to outshine Doubront’s quality start, but we can’t...
