The saga of Bobby Valentine vs the Boston media is clearly far from over, even though Bobby V is no longer with the organization. A season removed from the doomed stint with the Red Sox Bobby Valentine seems to have transgressed nicely, he’s since taken up a job as analyst for SNY and athletic director for Sacred Heart University, but his memories from Boston aren’t fully diminished. Valentine did an extensive interview with NY Post’s Steve Serby, and Valentine didn’t hold back on any hard feelings towards the media in the city. When Serby asked Valentine how he’d characterize difference between Boston media and NY media Valentine replied: All the Boston ever wanted to do is prove that they were a tougher media than New York. And I don’t paint everyone with the same brush, I think some of those guys are absolutely terrific people. And a good group of ’em are absolute horses asses who are unprofessional, lazy and should not be in the business up here, in my opinion. I had one guy never talk to me the whole year because he said to me he didn’t like the answer I gave him in spring training. He covered my team the whole year! I think the New York media knows more about baseball and is more professional. Strong words from the always very candid Valentine. No doubt the Red Sox experiment was an utter disaster, but Valentine’s constant rambling about his disdain for all those who did him wrong during his stay there is now coming off as bitter. One wouldn’t be shocked if he never managed another day in the majors again.
