There are several different accounts of what exactly took place during a lunch the Mets hosted for Scott Boras at CitiField on Wednesday.
Associated Press reported that Chief operating officer Jeff Wilpon, general manager Omar Minaya and assistant GM John Ricco met Wednesday with Boras and Mike Fiore, a member of the agent's staff. Wilpon gave the group a tour of Citi Field but the Mets were otherwise tightlipped about the meeting, with spokesman Jay Horwitz saying only that Boras' clients were discussed.
Obviously Derek Lowe was the main topic of conversation, but did Oliver Perez and Manny Ramirez ever enter into the dialog?
Matt Cerrone at MetsBlog says probably not, and he was the first to report anything about the meeting.
As the night wore on, Anthony DiComo of Mets.com shared some more details on the meeting, and actually confirmed that Manny Ramirez and Oliver Perez were among the topics discussed. He writes,
