PLAYERS: CC Sabathia
TEAMS: New York Yankees

New York Yankees southpaw CC Sabathia is having arguably the worst season of his career. He is on pace to set career highs in both ERA (4.78) and H/9 (9.9) and has already set a career high by allowing 24 home runs. And there is still eight weeks to go in the regular season, too!Boston Glove columnist Nick Cafardo sought the advice of a talent evaluator and concluded that Sabathia's woes in 2013 may be linked to his weight loss. Some players just perform better carrying more weight. Sabathia seems to be one of them. Some think such a theory is silly, that Sabathia is merely showing wear and tear after being a workhorse for so many years. But doesn’t it make some sense?“The weight loss has created a balance problem for him,“ said one talent evaluator. “He’s all over the place. He’s learning how to pitch in that body, a body he’s really never had. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with him other than that. Sometimes you pitch at a certain weight all your life and then someone has the brilliant idea that you should lose weight because it’s putting stress on your knees, you do it, and then you’re dealing with something else.”Well, that is interesting. The 33-year-old has played majority of his career weighing nearly 300 pounds. However, this year he has trimmed down his figure to more like 275 pounds.Via Boston Globe

  • Wellll now, if that's all it is then the Yankees should just make sure there's a separate buffet table just for CC after all games from now on.

A-Rod singles, but Yanks blown out

Alex Rodriguez Live Blog: Major League Baseball to Suspend A-Rod Through 2014 Season

2:39 p.m.: If Rodriguez were to take the field in Chicago on Monday, it would be highly embarrassing for Bud Selig.
