Justin Masterson cruised through the first three innings then imploded. Masterson gave up two runs in the fourth, three runs in the fifth and then finally was tagged for five runs in the sixth for a total of 10 runs in 5 2/3rds innings. Not that it really mattered. Twins pitcher Samuel Deduno (2-0, 3.13 ERA) held the Tribe to just one run (and two hits) over seven innings to get the win. The Tribe tacked on two runs in both the eight and the nineth when the game was well beyond reach.

The Tribe looks to avoid the sweep (and remain buyers for Tuesday’s trade deadline) on Sunday, when they send Ubaldo Jimenez (8-9, 4.97 ERA) to the mound to face off against Minnesota lefty Brian Duensing (1-6, 4.86 ERA) at 2:10 PM.
