Brad Peacock isn’t even ranked in the top 150 starters for CBS.  Then again they have Javier Vazquez ranked 47th overall and he retired, so there’s that.  Here’s what I said when he was traded to the A’s, “Peacock had a great season in Double- and Triple-A last year, putting up a 2.39 ERA and a 177/47 K/BB line.  The A’s basically got Gio Gonzalez back.  I’m gonna be all about Peacock in 2012 like I just woke up from a nap after drinking seven glasses of water.”  And that’s me quoting me!  I obviously thought the acquisition of Peacock by Pitt was a great get.  I wonder if skinny Jonah Hill is as good a baseball evaluator as fat Jonah Hill.  I know he’s not as funny.  He’s not even as easy to look at.  Nothing worse than the nerd who gets the summer makeover and thinks he’s now cool.  You’re still a nerd, embrace your Jew-fro.  Don’t make me take off my mustache and smack you with it.  Peacock is done with the m...

Dallas Braden Got a Tattoo of Rollie Fingers Riding a Dolphin over a Rainbow (Picture)

Oakland A’s pitcher Dallas Braden really got a tattoo on his arm of Rollie Fingers riding a dolphin jumping over a rainbow. The photo was shared on the A’s Facebook page, and they say Braden got the tattoo after doing a commercial shoot with Rollie. Braden has always been a silly dude, so we can’t say we expected anything less. I guess that’s how they roll...

A's pitcher gets unique tattoo of Rollie Fingers

Yes, you are seeing that correctly. That is Hall of Fame pitcher Rollie Fingers in all of his mustachioed glory, riding a dolphin in front of a rainbow, engraved in ink on Oakland A’s pitcher Dallas Braden’s left upper arm. Okay, okay, I have serious doubts this is real. For one, its gleam in light reminds me of those temporary tattoos kids can get at Chuck E. Cheese...

Athletics owner interested in Ramirez

Oakland Athletics owner Lew Wolff said he is open to the idea of signing slugger Manny Ramirez. Wolff told the San Francisco Chronicle that he could not see any "non-baseball" reason for bringing in Ramirez. "I wouldn't want to not have a player because he made a mistake and paid the price for it, but that's really up to (general manager) Billy (Beane),"...

Dallas Braden Tattoo Features Rollie Fingers Riding Dolphin, But Is It Real? (Photo)

Tattoos last a lifetime, but the permanence hasn't kept ink from going through its share of fads. In the 1990s it seemed like everybody got thorns or barbed wire inked on their upper arms. In the early 2000s, the tat du jour was a tribal design -- if you were a former heavyweight champ, maybe you even put one on your face. Fortunately, Dallas Braden isn't one to follow the...

Athletics Designate Adrian Cardenas For Assignment

The Athletics announced that they designated infielder Adrian Cardenas for assignment. The move creates 40-man roster space for Bay Area native Jonny Gomes, whose signing is now official. Cardenas, 24, spent the 2011 season with Oakland's Triple-A affiliate, where he posted a .314/.374/.418 line in 545 plate appearances and played left field, shortstop, second and third....

Gomes finalizes A's deal, says he's excited to join childhood team

The A's and Jonny Gomes finalized a $1 million, one-year contract Thursday after reaching a preliminary agreement last week. Gomes already has a nice fan base in the Bay Area. He grew up in nearby Petaluma, where he is loved.
