Found May 24, 2013 on Tireball.com:
PLAYERS: Brandon Beachy
TEAMS: Atlanta Braves
Brandon Beachy made his first rehab start on Friday night. The 26-year-old right hander went four innings for the Triple-A Gwinnett Braves. Beachy was shaky in the outing allowing two runs on two hits, including a home run. As concerning for Beachy was the three walks he allowed while striking out two. Beachy threw 70 pitches in the outing but only found the strike zone with 35 of them. The Braves are in no hurry to rush him back to the big leagues and will ask him to make additional minor league starts. Last season Beachy made 13 starts for the Braves going 5-5 with a 2.00 ERA.

Fredi Gonzalez Figures Out a Way

Tuesday night after Evan Gattis smashed a two-run homer with two outs in the bottom of the ninth against the Twins to tie the game, Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez talked about his need to get Gattis into the line-up. “We’ve got to either figure out a way to get to the American League where we can play him more, or for me to figure out a way to play him someplace,” Gonzalez said...

Atlanta Braves News: Teammates Battle for Playing Time

The Atlanta Braves have continued playing excellent baseball since the completion of the Dodgers series on Sunday, as the team steamrolled right through the Minnesota Twins on their way to a 4 ½ game lead in the NL East over the Nationals. This great play, however, does not come without some difficulties; namely that the Braves have a roster full of talent but only nine positions...

Q&A: Joey Terdoslavich, Future Braves Basher

Joey Terdoslavich isn’t worried about his low walk rate or his numbers against left-handed pitchers. The 24-year-old Atlanta Braves prospect expects those issues to work themselves out during the season. The reason? He’s a master craftsman with a baseball bat in his hands. Terdoslavich went into last night’s game hitting .328/.349/.578, with eight home runs, for Triple-A Gwinnett...

Evan Gattis rocks polar bear costume as Legend of El Oso Blanco grows

Atlanta Braves rookie folk hero Evan Gattis was dressed up as a polar bear for an MLB Fan Cave video. Find out the origins of Gattis' legend here.

Fan catches B.J. Upton homer with his hat

I'm always going to be ridiculously impressed by fans who catch balls with their hat (which always has seemed to be some sort of impossible task for me), and this one in Atlanta yesterday is another fantastic play to add to the ledger. In the bottom of the fourth inning of the Braves' 8-3 win over the Twins, BJ Upton homered to left field against Vance Worley. This fan proceeded...

Braves sweep homestand, head to the Big Apple

“Bear” Gattis’ heroics helped the Braves sweep their 6-game homestand. With back-to-back sweeps of the Dodgers and the Twins, the Braves face off against an old nemesis, the New York Mets, this weekend with nothing but confidence. As they displayed in the final game of the series, the Braves can put all of their bench players in the lineup to give some of the regular starters...

Fantasy Baseball: What’s up with B.J. Upton?

Upton is known for his habit of going on long streaks of really good and really bad hitting, but even the most optimistic of owners are asking questions now that he has been slumping for almost two months. 15% of ESPN owners have already decided that they can’t take any more of his poor production and have dropped him to free agency. His sigh-inducing .151 avg. is just the beginning...

Mike Minor has been major

While completing my daily Game Picks post, I took a look at Mike Minor's statistics and was really surprised at what I found. He has really been pitching well this season. He has had one sub-par outing against the Tigers as the only blight in his nine starts this season. And then I went back to last season and the numbers really did not do much for me until I looked at his splits...

Mike Minor Will Turn It Around Tonight

The Atlanta Braves and the New York Mets were left in suspended animation last night, but does anyone care? The Atlanta Braves, currently in first, have won six consecutive games. On the flip side, the New York Mets, currently in fourth (thanks to the Marlins being slightly worse), have lost six straight at home. Nonetheless, the teams had to wait until today before seeing if both...

Daisy, the Kimbreling dog

Reader Heather sent over this pic of her adorable dog, Daisy. Here's her story: I thought you would enjoy this picture of our dog, Daisy.  She loves to climb up on the back of our couch and pose.  She can chop on command so she is always cheering on the Braves!  Yes, we love the Braves that much! That's some top-notch dog training. :) Thanks so much for sharing, Heather!

Braves vs Mets: Dillon Gee Opposes Mike Minor In Tonight’s Second Game

Game Notes The teams will resume play with none out in the top of the ninth inning on Saturday at 6:10 p.m. The regularly scheduled game is set to start 7:15 p.m. with Mets right-hander Dillon Gee and Braves lefty Mike Minor getting their starts. Subject to availability tickets from Friday’s suspended game can only be redeemed for complimentary tickets to the Mets game either this...

Suspended Sombrero

I don't intend to make every blog post about Ike Davis. I really don't. But here's what I want to discuss about Ike from Friday's suspended game: So in the top of the eighth inning, Evan Gattis comes up for the Braves. Now if your address is 385 Under A Rock, Evan Gattis is a beast of a man. He looks like a child took the most muscular parts of every action figure...
