MILWAUKEE -- After reaggravating a nagging groin injury during Tuesday's win over the Cardinals, Brewers outfielder Ryan Braun is not in the lineup for Wednesday's rubber match.
Brewers manager Ron Roenicke said on Tuesday night that the injury was "not very serious". Braun's absence is likely just a precaution, allowing for him to get two days of rest with the team's scheduled off day on Thursday.
The injury took place when Braun ran to catch a fly ball close to the wall on Tuesday. He said he took himself out of the game for fear that sprinting would further aggravate the nagging injury.
The Brewers are actually 5-0 in matchups without Braun this season. But there's no doubt that his absence on Wednesday is to ensure that that minimal sample size remains as small as possible.
Braun is batting .309 this season with 26 home runs and 65 RBI.
