Atlanta Braves shortstop Paul Janish dislocated his left shoulder Tuesday night diving for an infield hit in the ninth inning of their 4-3, 10-inning loss at Miami. X-rays revealed no structural damage, but Janish said he doesn't expect to sidelined for long. ''I've probably done it eight or nine times before,'' he said. ''Usually it just slides right back in. This is the first time I've ever had it get stuck and not be able to get it back in. They popped it back in. It's going to be sore for a few days.'' Janish entered the game in the ninth. He's hitting .186 in 55 games.

Braves' Medlen continues blistering run

There's no slowing Kris Medlen. In pregame warm-ups. Running his mouth in the clubhouse. And especially on the mound. He's a constant blur of motion and energy, which he has harnessed to become the best starter in the majors right now. Atlanta's boyish right-hander remained hotter than a Miami summer, adding to his unbeaten streak and growing legend Wednesday night...

Legend of Kris Medlen continues

Suzanna’s pictures from Friday’s game

A friend and I both had a free weekend last week, so we drove to Atlanta together for the game on the 14th.  It had been a few years since either of us had been able to go to a game, and since this is Chipper’s last year we had extra incentive to get to a game before the end of the season.  We got to Turner Field before 4:30 and, after a bit, found the only gate that was open...

Braves showing minor improvements with RISP

Were beginning to see the signs, ever so slight. A single here. A double there. There were two ninth-inning hits to tie Tuesday nights game before the Braves lost 4-3 in the 10th. Braves hitters seem to be waking from the comatose state theyve stumbled around in with runners in scoring position, but they continue to have the worst average in the majors with their teammates standing...

Fans honor Chipper Jones with corn maze

Fox Sports South has brought us this tribute for retiring Atlanta Braves legend Chipper Jones...his likeness cut into a corn maze. The corn maze was created by Braves fans Misty and Lamar Duren of Walnut Grove, Georgia. Creating corn mazes is nothing new for them, and last year, they made a maze to honor Atlanta company Coca-Cola, celebrating its 125th anniversary. This is pretty...

Is Erasmo Ramirez the Next Kris Medlen?

The current talk of the National League is a reliever turned starter with a small body type dominating the league with three solid pitches and, specifically, a killer changeup. Kris Medlen’s season has been one of the more interesting storylines this year, which has to do with both his impressive performance as a starter and the fact that he has done so for a contending team. In...

Marlins go for second victory against Braves

When Kris Medlen moved from the bullpen to make a start against the Miami Marlins seven weeks ago, the Atlanta Braves weren't sure exactly what to expect. Every time he takes the mound now, they expect a win. The Braves go for a 21st straight victory in a start by Medlen in Wednesday night's series finale in Miami. Atlanta's four-game winning streak was snapped Tuesday...

Edwar Cabrera, Patrick Corbin: The Next Kris Medlen?

I often like to say that success is the result of talent meeting opportunity. That’s what makes Kris Medlen‘s breakout so surprising. The talent has always been there. After a late start to his pitching career (he was converted to the position in college), Medlen has quickly mastered his craft. His control has always been impeccable, walking just 2.13 batters per nine innings...

Medlen wins again, Braves top Marlins

MIAMI (AP) -- Kris Medlen and Chipper Jones found themselves linked in baseball's record books with Whitey Ford and Lou Gehrig. More importantly to the Atlanta Braves, they just kept rolling along. Medlen pitched eight innings of four-hit ball and the Braves won his start for the 21st straight time, beating the Miami Marlins 3-0 on Wednesday night. Jones went 1 for 4 in his...

Klements, Brewers, give retirement gift to Chipper Jones

Its better than a gold watch...right? Chipper Jones is in the midst of his final illustrious Major League Baseball career. As he and the Braves make their last appearance in various cities, the fans and the opposing teams are recognizing Chipper's play and his decorated career. He received a Green Monster plaque from the Red Sox. A surfboard from the Padres. But...no one...

Braves 3, Marlins 0

Kris Medlen pitched eight innings of four-hit ball and the Atlanta Braves won his start for the 21st straight time, beating the Miami Marlins 3-0 on Wednesday night. Medlen (9-1) lost the first two starts of his career in 2009. He hasn't taken a loss in any of his 26 starts since, with the Braves prevailing in the last 21 of those - making them the first team since the New York...

Uggla homers, Braves beat Marlins

MIAMI (AP) -- Dan Uggla hit a three-run home run in the first inning, Martin Prado tied a career best with four hits and the Atlanta Braves beat the Miami Marlins 7-5 on Monday night. Tim Hudson (15-6) allowed a season-high 10 hits in five innings, still beating the Marlins for the fifth straight time. Atlanta -- which swept a three-game series from Washington over the weekend ...
