Chipper Jones was still fuming Sunday over claims by Colorado Rockies pitcher Jamie Moyer that the Atlanta star had been stealing signs and relaying them to Braves hitters. ''I'm not happy, to say the least,'' Jones said after the Braves completed a three-game sweep of the Rockies with a 7-2 victory on Sunday. ''Any time a grown man gets his integrity questioned, they're going to take it seriously and I'm no different. If he wants to discuss it, we'll discuss it, but he's wrong, plain and simple,'' Jones said. Asked by reporters earlier in the day for his side, Moyer declined to comment. Jones was given the day off Sunday. On Saturday, he was on second base after doubling off Moyer in the fifth inning of Atlanta's 13-9 victory. As he was engaged in some casual banter with Rockies shortstop Troy Tulowitzki, Jones said Moyer approached and said, ''I see you (stealing signs).'' ''It caught me by surpr...

Chipper Jones goes off on Jamie Moyer after accusation of stealing signs

The Braves overcame a six-run deficit on Saturday to beat the Rockies, 13-9, thanks largely to a five-RBI game by Chipper Jones. But Jamie Moyer provided some added drama to the contest when he accused Jones of relaying signs to batters at home plate. Jones took exception to Moyer’s allegations, as both players were seen exchanging choice words during the fifth inning. “That...

Chipper Jones denies Moyer's sign stealing claims

Chipper Jones Denies Moyer’s Sign Stealing Accusations

Two of the oldest players in Major League Baseball are currently in the middle of a fight, and it would probably be pretty funny if the accusations being thrown around weren’t so serious. Colorado Rockies pitcher Jamie Moyer has accused Atlanta Braves third baseman Chipper Jones of stealing signs. And Jones isn’t exactly taking that insult in stride. On Saturday the 40-year...

Chipper feels Mariano's pain

Atlanta third baseman Chipper Jones watched the video of New York Yankees closer Mariano Rivera tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee while shagging batting-practice flyballs last week. He saw Rivera carted off the field. He heard Rivera, whose career plans beyond this season had been up in the air, then vow to return to the mound in 2013. And Jones could empathize...

Jamie Moyer – The Father of Reinvention

With Mariano Rivera hurt, Roger Clemens on Trial and Ozzie Guillen lacking a filter, this season has gotten off to a pretty dark start. Nevertheless, there are always several “feel good” stories that develop over the season, showing us why Baseball is always a good thing. Picture it! June 1986. The Boston Celtics win the NBA championship. Americans are still trying to sanitize...

Fresh off sweep of Rockies, Braves roll into Wrigley

By Tara Rowe If the Braves were hoping to forget dropping a series at home to the rival Phillies, they definitely put it behind them with a sweep of the Rockies at Coors Field. A series that got off to an incredibly crazy start ended with solid pitching from Brandon Beachy. The Braves are in Chicago today for a 3-game set with the Cubs. Tim Hudson's Coors Field woes continued...
