The Atlanta Braves have recalled outfielder Jose Constanza from Triple-A Gwinnett. Constanza was needed after catcher-outfielder Evan Gattis was optioned to Gwinnett following Friday night's 2-1 win over Miami. The Braves plan to recall Gattis after Gwinnett's season ends on Monday. The Braves want Gattis to see regular playing time for three games with Gwinnett. Gattis is hitting only .139 (5 for 36) in August, dropping his overall average to .238. He has 15 homers and leads all rookies with 47 RBIs. Constanza has hit only .160 in 14 games with Atlanta this season.
