Atlanta Braves second baseman Dan Uggla extended his hitting streak to a team-record 32 games Friday night.
Uggla homered off Chicago Cubs righthander Carlos Zambrano in the second inning to surpass the Atlanta team record that was held by Rico Carty.
He added another home run in the fifth inning and finished 3-for-3 to raise his batting average to .229 - up from the mark of .173 when he started the streak on July 5.
The franchise record is held by Tommy Holmes, who hit in 37 straight games with the Boston Braves in 1945.
Uggla's streak is the longest in the majors this season. Andre Ethier of the Los Angeles Dodgers hit in 30 straight earlier in the season.
