Brayan Pena drove in the go-ahead run for the Detroit Tigers in the 14th inning on Wednesday night (or early Thursday morning, depending on where you were viewing the game). He then secured the Tigers’ 2-1 victory over the Mariners by tagging out Justin Smoak on a collision at the plate to end the game.
Pena’s eventual game-winning RBI came on a groundout to short with the bases loaded — the Mariners could only get Pena at first, which allowed pinch-runner Don Kelly to score.
In the bottom of the 14th, the Mariners then nearly tied it as Dustin Ackley ripped a double to right off Joaquin Benoit. But Torii Hunter quickly retrieved the ball and hit cutoff man Prince Fielder, who fired a strike to Pena. The Tigers’ catcher did the rest.

Tigers pinch runner Andy Dirks attempted to steal second base on Tuesday night at Safeco during the ninth inning of the Mariners and Tigers game. The attempt was normal, but the best part was the throw that Mariners catcher Kelly Shoppach completely blew. Check out the attempt and try not to laugh.
