Sources have said Angel Pagan, 31, is looking for a four-year deal and the Phillies have offered him the largest salary thus far, but it looks like the Giants will be getting a hometown discount if he returns to San Francisco. In my opinion, the signing of Pagan would be a good move for the Giants only if they don’t pay him too much. There are other center fielders available such as Michael Bourn and Shane Victorino but the Giants seem to have Pagan in their sights. I’d love to have Bourn, 28, on this team, but it looks like he is looking for a hefty deal surpassing the $100 million mark. Pagan should be getting close to a 4/$44 million deal, or at least that’s how much I believe he would be worth. Speedy outfielders lose their value rapidly as they age and when Pagan is 36 when this deal is done, it’s pretty likely he wont be worth $11 million per year. Nevertheless, the Giants are active this winter and I like the players they are focusing on. Stay tuned.
