DRaysBay.com is reporting (though they cannot confirm yet) that Hank Blalock will most likely be added to the Rays 25 man roster today. I have not seen any corresponding reports anywhere else as of yet, but this would be a most welcome move. Readers of this blog know of my dislike of seeing Pat Burrell in the lineup for the Rays. In his last 10 games, Burrell has 6 hits in 36 AB’s, a blazing .166 average. Burrell was once again 0-4 last night against the Seattle Mariners. Two weeks ago, Tampa’s bats were sizzling, producing double digit hit totals nearly every night, but that sizzle has become more of a smolder in the last 10 games and the Rays need a shake up in the order. Maybe Pena needs a few games off. Maybe Rodriguez or Zobrist need a few nights in centerfield with Upton sitting a couple games. I have to admit that it does seem a bit unusual to have the Rays possess the best record in the majors but yet have such a sense of urgency with the batting order. But it...
