The Baseball Page:
The New York Yankees aren't ruling out the possibility that injured outfielder Brett Gardner could make the roster for September in a limited capacity.
Manager Joe Girardi told MLB.com, "If there's a way that he can help us, we'll definitely use him, especially in the month of September, when you can expand rosters," Girardi said. "If there are certain things that he can't do and it's during the month of August, then you kind of limit your roster. But with an expanded roster, if he can help us, we'll definitely use him if it doesn't jeopardize him getting back next year."
Gardner recently had arthroscopic surgery on his right elbow to remove some inflamed tissue that has cost him almost the entire 2012 season. Brett tried to rehab the injury three times before the physicians agreed a surgical procedure would be the only alternative.
The 29 year old outfielder had problems swinging a bat in his rehab stints which pr...
BEST OF MAXIM
Our not top play of the night award goes to Cody Eppley, a relief pitcher of the New York Yankees that was accidently hit in the head on a throw from third baseman Eric Chavez.
Eppley was staring at the mound when Chavez threw him a ball after tossing it around the infield. Perhaps the most entertaining part of the video is the YES network analysts laughing during the replay.
Baseball players know that the occasional beaning is all a part of the game. Except that normally you don’t expect to get nailed in the head by one of your own teammates, which is exactly what happened to Yankees reliever Cody Eppley during the sixth inning of Tuesday night’s game against the Tigers.
Eppley wasn’t paying attention to the infielders throwing the ball around...
Model Kate Upton — whose career skyrocketed ever since she was named the cover girl for 2012 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition — has become America’s sex symbol. She’s the girl we all want to live next door to.
The model and budding actress, who is reportedly dating Detroit Tigers pitcher Justin Verlander, has been channeling another blond bombshell in recent photo shoots...
New York Yankees pitcher Cody Eppley was hit right in the head accidentally by a toss from teammate Eric Chavez during Tuesday night's game at Comerica Park against the Detroit Tigers.
It happened after the Yankees recorded the second out of the sixth inning on a groundout by Tigers batter Jhonny Peralta. The Yankees tossed the ball around the infield, and Chavez tossed...
A. J. Burnett (Photo credit: Wikipedia)
Whoever said that AJ Burnett couldn’t pitch should be putting their foot back in their mouth, as he could very well win the NL CY Young this season.
I have always been a Burnett fan since his days with the Florida Marlins; so I was thrilled when the Yankees signed him in 2009 and went on to win the World Series that season.
Burnett had his...
"Hey, HEY, HEY!" NY Yankees third baseman Eric Chavez 'beaned' Yanks pitcher Cody Eppley and his (Chavez') reaction was priceless.

The Yankees looked pretty bad against the Tigers on Monday night, striking out 14 times and mustering no earned runs against Detroit's Justin Verlander. But don't give the reigning American League MVP and Cy Young winner all of the credit in this one. The Yankees may have been a little distracted coming in. Derek Jeter seemed reticent to head to batting practice Monday. His...

(Breaking update: Yes Network hires Meredith Marakovits)
We’re a Midwest site, but occasionally we need to focus on stories with a more coastal theme. Here in Chicago, our media contingent lacks the obvious eye-candy tokenism you find so prominent on both coasts and in the national media.
But on the East Coast…meet hottie Meredith Marakovits

Last night, as the Yankees moved closer to losing their second straight game to the Detroit Tigers, a thought popped into my head that I am sure would be considered almost blasphemous had a Yankee fan known I was thinking it. (Actually, I tweeted it, but it seems to have gone unnoticed.) Here's the thought:Why even bother trying to make the playoffs if you're always going...
