If the Milwaukee Brewers have any hopes of getting their season turned around, closer John Axford is going to have to get his act together. Axford had another tough night at the office Tuesday when he surrendered an eighth-inning homer to Cincinnati's Drew Stubbs that gave the Reds a 4-3 victory. It was the seventh time in the Brewers' last nine losses that the outcome was decided in the opponent's final at-bat, and Axford has been a key figure in that collapse. Since June 12, Axford has blown three of six save opportunities while being saddled with three losses. By comparison, Axford blew only two saves during the entire 2011 season, converting 46 of 48 opportunities. Axford was pitching in the eighth inning instead of the ninth because the Brewers entered that inning trailing 3-0 with Cincinnati's Bronson Arroyo working on a no-hitter. Manager Ron Roenicke got Axford up merely to get work should the Reds stay on top, but the Brewers rallied against Arroyo to ...

Brewers OF has altercation with fan

Nyjer Morgan, outfielder and lightning rod of the Milwaukee Brewers, was at it again Wednesday afternoon. Morgan reached into the crowd while pursuing a foul ball along the right-field...

Nyjer Morgan Argues With Reds Fan Over Foul Ball (Video)

Greinke could be traded if Brewers keep falling

Many scouts were on hand Wednesday in Cincinnati to watch Brewers right-hander Zack Greinke pitch, and understandably so. Should the Brewers decide they have no chance to climb into the NL Central race and become a seller on the trade market, Greinke could be the top pitcher available. He is a free agent after the season, and if the Brewers think they have no chance to keep him...

Braun retakes third place in All-Star voting

It seems that the Milwaukee Brewers' push to "Vote Braun" in the last week is working just as planned. In the latest National League All-Star voting update, Brewers star left fielder Ryan Braun overtook Giants outfielder Melky Cabrera, who had pushed past the Milwaukee outfielder in the previous update. Now, it seems Braun and Cabrera are in a deadlock for the final...

Brewers admit they needed this win

Rapidly falling out of the NL Central race after two straight losses to the division-leading Cincinnati Reds, the Milwaukee Brewers desperately needed a bit of redemption Wednesday afternoon. And for at least one game, the Brewers seemed to get what they wished for. The offense put up eight runs after managing just half that in the three prior games combined. Similar to Milwaukee...

Report: Brewers considering trading Greinke

The Milwaukee Brewers reportedly may trade pitcher Zack Greinke if they cannot reach agreement with him on a long-term contract by the July 31 non-waiver trade deadline. Based on information provided by two executives outside the Brewers' organization, FoxSports.com reported the Brewers' inclination to trade Greinke, who is scheduled to become a free agent at the end of...

Braun has surprised doubters, not himself

It's as if nothing changed for Ryan Braun. As if he never had to fight for his name last winter. As if Prince Fielder was still hitting cleanup behind him in the Milwaukee Brewers lineup. Braun, 28, is almost exactly the player he was a year ago at this time. The uproar over his positive test for elevated levels of testosterone and successful appeal and avoidance of a 50...

Right handed pitcher Zack Greinke could be on the move before the July Trade Deadline if the Brewers can't sign him to a long-term deal Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports reports. “They're definitely expecting to move him unless something changes and they re-sign him,” a rival executive told Rosenthal.
