Brewers manager Ron Roenicke says closer Jim Henderson is expected to be out ''a while'' with a pulled hamstring. Henderson was injured Friday against the Pirates. Roenicke says the right-hander was limping Saturday and is scheduled to be examined by a doctor. He says the injury might force the team to make a roster move. Henderson was hurt while delivering a pitch in the ninth inning. He gave way to Francisco Rodriguez, who earned a save in the Brewers' 2-1 win. Henderson has not allowed a run over 6 2-3 innings in his last seven outings. He has nine saves and a 0.92 ERA.

Brewers Saturday: Henderson to be evaluated by team doctor

MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee Brewers closer Jim Henderson's hamstring injury will be evaluated Saturday afternoon by team physician Dr. William Raasch, but early signs indicate a trip to the disabled list could be likely. "It's going to be awhile," Brewers manager Ron Roenicke said. " ... Anytime you pull a hamstring, it's not a day-to-day thing. He's limping...

Brewers Sunday: RHP Donovan Hand called up

MILWAUKEE The Milwaukee Brewers have selected right-hander Donovan Hand from Triple-A Nashville to fill the void left by closer Jim Henderson's placement on the disabled list. To clear a spot on the 40-man roster for Hand, the Brewers shifted right-hander Mark Rogers to the 60-day disabled list. Hand, 27, was Milwaukee's final bullpen cut in spring training, but went to...

Brewers Friday: Gorzelanny reinstated from DL

MILWAUKEE The Milwaukee Brewers have reinstated left-hander Tom Gorzelanny from the 15-day disabled list prior to Friday's game against Pittsburgh. To free up a roster spot, the Brewers placed right-hander Hiram Burgos on the 15-day disabled list with a right shoulder impingement. Signed as a free agent this past offseason, Gorzelanny has been one of Milwaukee's more consistent...

Gallardo, Roenicke baffled by short start

MILWAUKEE Yovani Gallardo says he felt good, but the results speak otherwise yet again. For the right-hander and the Milwaukee Brewers, it was more of the same Sunday afternoon. Their starting pitcher couldn't go deep into the game, and the offense struggled to consistently put run-scoring threats together. Gallardo lasted just four innings, allowed four runs on five hits...

Brewers place closer Jim Henderson on DL

Milwaukee Brewers closer Jim Henderson exited his last appearance with a hamstring injury. The ailment isn’t said to be a “serious pull,” but it is still severe enough to land the right-hander on the 15-day disabled list, according to Michael Hunt of The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. "It's not a serious pull," Henderson said, "but if they had not DL...

Brewers Sideline Reporter Sophia Minnaert hit by foul ball (video)

Milwaukee Brewers sideline reporter Sophia Minnaert was covering the Pirates vs Brewers game yesterday for Fox Sports Wisconsin when an errant foul ball struck her microphone. It came in with such velocity that it knocked the mic right out of her hand, into her face, and then onto the ground. I hope she washed it later. When something gets on the dirty ground with all those germs...

Brewers 2, Pirates 1

Marco Estrada gave up one run over seven innings and Alex Gonzalez had a two-run double, leading the Milwaukee Brewers to a 2-1 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates on Friday night. Estrada (4-2) retired the first 14 Pittsburgh batters he faced before a two-out bloop single to left field by Neil Walker in the fifth inning gave the Pirates their first base runner. Estrada struck...

Milwaukee hopes to solve the riddle of Rodriguez

The Milwaukee Brewers have won all nine of Yovani Gallardo's home starts against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Defeating Wandy Rodriguez, however, could prove difficult. The Brewers, owners of the worst record in baseball against left-handed starters at 4-16, face another one in Rodriguez in the finale of this three-game set at Miller Park on Sunday. Gallardo (3-4, 4.50 ERA) is...

Pirates’ Miller Park woes continue

The Pirates were 29 and 18 coming into tonight’s game in Milwaukee.  The Brewers were 18 and 27.  The Pirates are obviously the superior team, yet Miller Park continues to give them problems.  Tonight, they didn’t have a hit, or even a baserunner, until the 5th inning, and came away with a 2-1 loss. AJ…

Pittsburgh Pirates vs. Milwaukee Brewers – Game 50

Pedro Alvarez was responsible for more runs than the Brewers yesterday.  Too bad this guy sits for Brandon Inge and his .560 OPS on a semi-regular basis. I mean, who needs a power bat in the lineup against righties at the home run haven Miller Park? There is a very real chance that if Pedro…
