The Milwaukee Brewers have reinstated pitcher Jim Henderson from the 15-day disabled list. To make room on the roster, the club optioned pitcher Tyler Thornburg to Triple-A Nashville.
Manager Ron Roenicke said Sunday he might not immediately use Henderson in his usual closer role upon his return from Single-A Wisconsin.
Roenicke says he wants to be cautious and Henderson could be rusty. The manger adds he thinks it makes more sense to use Henderson ''somewhere other than the ninth inning.''
Henderson strained his right hamstring while pitching in the ninth inning of a 5-2 loss to Pittsburgh on May 24 in Milwaukee.
