Found April 27, 2013 on Fox Sports Wisconsin:
Milwaukee Brewers shortstop Jean Segura has been scratched from Saturday night's lineup after splitting the nail on his right index finger during batting practice, the team announced. One of Milwaukee's hottest hitters, the 23-year-old Segura is hitting .359 with one home run and six RBI while leading the National League in stolen bases with seven. With Segura out of the lineup, Alex Gonzalez will play shortstop against the Dodgers after he was originally slated to play first base. Blake Lalli will now start at first base, with center fielder Carlos Gomez jumping up to Segura's No. 2 spot in the batting order, catcher Martin Maldonado bumping up to sixth in the lineup, with Lalli hitting seventh. Third baseman Yuniesky Betancourt will make his first career start in the cleanup spot Saturday, as Jonathan Lucroy gets the night off. The Dodgers also scratched a key member of their original lineup, as first baseman Adrian Gonzalez won't start against the Brewers due ...

MPD Contest: Gomez Ducking Photoshop

Yeah, yeah, we know this photo is from a few weeks ago, but this Morry Gash picture--lolz "Gash"--is the modern baseball equivalent of that iconic photograph of the soldier who just returned from war who's passionately kissing his wife. Or at the very least, that "Hang In There" poster with the cat. It's a testament to Carlos Gomez's speed. It displays...

Brewers Did Fine Against a Rookie Pitcher (But Will We Remember?)

(Photo: Stephen Dunn/Getty Images) Last night, when it turned out that the Brewers were going to face minor league spot-starter Matt Magill, it reminded me of a comment I’ve heard (and probably made) more than once over the last few years – that the Brewers don’t hit well against inexperienced pitchers.  It’s the kind of quip that comes up in random Brewers chitchat...

Brewers seek to even series in Los Angeles

The Milwaukee Brewers and Los Angeles Dodgers haven't fared too well at the plate against right-handers. Now they will face rookie right-handed starters they have never seen. It's hard to know what to expect in Saturday night's pitching matchup between the Brewers' Wily Peralta and Dodgers' Stephen Fife, with Milwaukee seeking to even this series at a game apiece...

As If We Needed More Evidence for Expanded Replay in Baseball

(Photo: Getty Images) I didn’t stay up for the whole Brewers/Padres game on Wednesday night, but reports indicate it had a blown-call finish.  With the tying run in scoring position, Martin Maldonado hit a fair ball that bounced back into him, and he was called out on batter’s interference to end the game.  Replays showed that Maldonado’s foot was still in the batter’s...

Lohse hopes to continue success in LA

While he's often impressed at Dodger Stadium, Los Angeles ace Clayton Kershaw has also struggled in recent games there against the Milwaukee Brewers. The left-hander will try to end those woes while Milwaukee's ailing Kyle Lohse is hoping to continue his success in Los Angeles in Sunday's series finale against the Dodgers. Kershaw (2-2, 2.14 ERA) is 36-18 with a 2.32...

Brewers 6, Dodgers 4

Carlos Gomez and Martin Maldonado each hit two-run home runs to propel the Milwaukee Brewers to a 6-4 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Saturday night. Gomez's homer off reliever Matt Guerrier in the seventh inning erased a 3-2 deficit and Maldonado added his blast an inning later, also off Guerrier, to give the Brewers the cushion they needed. The comeback overshadowed...

Video: Paper airplane gracefully flies onto field at Dodger Stadium

Your browser does not support iframes.A paper airplane took flight at Dodger Stadium Friday evening. The moment of landing, though, came in the bottom of the seventh, when the winged aircraft gracefully soared by Milwaukee Brewers southpaw Mike Gonzalez, and subsequently landed to the right side of the pitcher's mound. It was quickly removed by the home plate umpire before play...

Recap from the Ravine Game 23 Brewers 6 – dodgers 4

The Milwaukee Brewers spoiled the debut of rookie Matt Magill and Carlos Gomez got a little bit of redemption in the process after being the goat of the previous nights game where he misplayed a fly ball he lost in the sky that fell for a double that ended up costing his team a victory. Magill was visibly nervous in his debut, which was evident early on. He started the game off by...

Dodgers' rally comes up short vs. Brewers, fall 6-4

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Carlos Gomez and Martin Maldonado each hit two-run home runs to propel the Milwaukee Brewers to a 6-4 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Saturday night. Gomez's homer off reliever Matt Guerrier in the seventh inning erased a 3-2 deficit and Maldonado added his blast an inning later, also off Guerrier, to give the Brewers the cushion they needed. Young Jean Segura emerges as rock for Brewers

(Eds: With AP Photos.) By ANDREW WAGNER Associated Press Through the season's first 11 games, Milwaukee Brewers manager Ron Roenicke submitted 10 different lineup cards. The baseball version of musical chairs was in large part due to attrition, especially at first base, where Roenicke saw his starter, Corey Hart, and backup, Mat Gamel, go down in spring training with knee injuries...

Pirates-Brewers Preview

After taking over the top spot in the NL Central for the first time since July, the Pittsburgh Pirates hope to end their losing streak against the Milwaukee Brewers with Wandy Rodriguez to the mound. That won't be easy considering their track record against Yovani Gallardo. The Brewers look for an eighth straight win over Pittsburgh in Monday's opener as they try to improve...
