In a minor deal amidst a flurry of major moves elsewhere, the Milwaukee Brewers on Wednesday announced the trade of catcher Wil Nieves to the Atlanta Braves in exchange for cash considerations. Nieves started the season in the majors while starter Jonathan Lucroy's broken finger healed and remained with them until June 15 when the Brewers sent him to Triple-A Nashville and brought up George Kottaras. In 50 at-bats over 20 games, Nieves batted .140 with just seven hits, two runs and no RBIs. His streak of at-bats without an RBI was longest in the majors. The Brewers made the switch to Kottaras hoping for an offensive boost. For his career, Nieves has batted .221 with 73 RBI and a .268 on-base percentage. With Nashville this season, Nieves was batting .170 with one home run and six RBI.
