Bryce Harper continued his torrid hot streak to start off the 2013 season on Wednesday as the Washington Nationals handled the visiting Chicago White Sox, winning by a score of 5-2 at Nationals Park. The 20-year-old Harper went 2-4, improving his batting average to .394 on the season. He now has 4 homer runs and 6 RBI in only 8 games in his second big league season and it appears at this early date that the threat of an early season sophomore slump isn’t anywhere on the radar. Of his two hits, his mammoth home run in the bottom of the 4th inning was the highlight. According to ESPN’s Home Run Tracker, the ball traveled an estimated 420 feet, but that doesn’t tell the entire story, as the distance is secondary to how the ball just exploded off his bat, leaving no doubt that the powerful swing Harper unleashed upon the pitch would result in the ball being deposited deep in the right field stands.Via MLB.com: Absurd. Harper is quickly becoming one of the most enigmatic players in the game and it seems like it will only be a matter of time before his potential meets up with his absurd talent. Nationals skipper Davey Johnson is dead-on accurate: It makes little to no sense to try and reign this kid in or hold him back in any way, with a dart gun or otherwise.  Just sit back and marvel at what this young man is accomplishing. Then there’s tweets like this one that make Harper all the more endearing to the average baseball fan: Nothing like classic rock and baseball! Nothing like it! #summertime — Bryce Harper (@Bharper3407) April 9, 2013 Indeed, Bryce Harper. Indeed.
