Found September 15, 2012 on Diamond Hoggers:
Think back to Memorial Day weekend when Bryce Harper said hello to the world by homering to the opposite field in Atlanta off Johnny Venters. Fast forward to last night, where an un-hittable, lights out version of Kris Medlen was on the bump for the Braves. Medlen had a career high 13 strikeouts and was throwing a shutout. Then Bryce Harper took him deep the opposite way. Great piece of hitting by Harper, who matches his ripe young age with 19 homers. I would say it’s even odds that he makes it to 20.

Nationals rookie Harper putting struggles behind him

Many rookies go through up-and-down times in their first season. Bryce Harper's been one of them. But after having lots of problems in the second half of the season, the 19-year-old outfielder has rebounded in a big way. He homered and went 2-for-3 in Friday's 2-1 loss in Atlanta, raising his average to .265 on the season. Harper saw his average drop to .247 on Aug...

The Nationals Are Going To Win The NL East, And It May Be The First Of Many

Bryce Harper and Stephen Strasburg: The duo that should strike fear in the hearts of Mets fans I wrote the post, which you can read below, titled “Do We Need To Start Fearing The Nationals, Could They Win The NL East?”, at the beginning of Spring Training. At the time I wrote this article I was just speculating at the possibility that they could be really successful. The idea...

No win for Medlen, Braves victorious anyway

ATLANTA The confidence never left Kris Medlen. Not when he had Tommy John surgery. Not when he missed nearly an entire season while rehabbing his right elbow. And not when he started this season in the Braves' bullpen. That's just how he thinks, how he attacks life. It's not cockiness or arrogance. He just thinks he can beat you. Medlen is the guy with the straight...

Kris Medlen Continues to Deal

Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Kris Medlen has been dialed in since joining the rotation back on July 31st. Medlen, 7-0 with a 0.81 ERA since then, has proved dominant for the Braves who find themselves sitting atop the NL Wild Card standings. The Braves are well ahead of the St. Louis Cardinals and Los Angeles Dodgers, two teams currently battling for that newest Wild Card spot...

Game Day Pictures: Braves vs Nationals 9-14-12

My brother hadn't been to a Braves game in a while and was so excited to go this Friday night -- he looked for tickets forever. The game turned out so well! Let's look at some pictures. Michelle: "You took no pictures of my Mac!" Uh, of course I did. Here's one. There are more in the gallery. :) Hee hee, I see you Kimmie. ❤ Oh, EO and Durbin have such great...

Kris Medlen Did It Again, You Guys

Kris Medlen is a painter and he’s quite good at his job. Last time he did this, I invoked Greg Maddux because of his control, and while it’s not the same, it’s still amazing.

Braves 2, Nationals 1

Kris Medlen struck out a career-high 13 and the Atlanta Braves pulled out a 2-1 victory over the Washington Nationals when Andrelton Simmons scored on a throwing error in the ninth inning Friday night. Simmons reached on an infield single against Sean Burnett (1-2) and scurried to third when Michael Bourn lined a single that dropped in right field. Pinch hitter Tyler Pastornicky...

Kris Continues Medlen With Opposing Hitters

Spare me while I talk about my team for a moment. I almost missed out on my head to head playoffs. Another team grabbed the final spot one week before the postseason was to begin. Oh no, it was that mean old Mr. McGaragle, and he would have gotten away with it too, if it weren’t for that Medlen Kris (and that dumb dog!) Yes, Kris Medlen continued his brilliance last night pitching...

Error in 9th sends Braves over Nationals

ATLANTA (AP) -- Kris Medlen struck out a career-high 13 and the Atlanta Braves pulled out a 2-1 victory over the Washington Nationals when Andrelton Simmons scored on a throwing error in the ninth inning Friday night. Simmons reached on an infield single against Sean Burnett (1-2) and scurried to third when Michael Bourn lined a single that dropped in right field. Pinch hitter Tyler...

Nats Could All But End Braves Hopes Of Division Championship This Weekend

For the final time in regular season play, the Washington Nationals (89-54) will face the Atlanta Braves (81-63) with the smell of the post-season thick in the air. From 8.5 games back, the Braves’ hopes of overtaking the Nationals for the division title are dwindling; nevertheless, this will be an all-important series for both teams. For the Nationals,  ...
