Buddy Carlyle No Longer With Organization
Brett Davis-USA TODAY Sports

The Los Angeles Angels have made several changes to their coaching staff since the end of the 2023 season, including most notably dismissing Phil Nevin as manager.

Matt Wise, who had served as the team’s pitching coach since 2021, has also left the organization to fill the same role with the Chicago White Sox.

According to Sam Blum of The Athletic , there has been another departure as Minor League pitching coordinator Buddy Carlyle is no longer with the Angels:

Carlyle had been the Angels Minor League pitching coordinator since 2016. Before his stint with the organization, he was a coaching assistant for the Atlanta Braves.

The 45-year-old additionally pitched in parts of nine MLB seasons with the San Diego Padres, Los Angeles Dodgers, Braves, New York Yankees and New York Mets.

Dom Chiti replacing Buddy Carlyle as Angels Minor League pitching coordinator

It appears the Angels have already found a replacement for Carlyle as longtime coach Dom Chiti has reportedly rejoined the organization as the new Minor League pitching coordinator.

Chiti, whose coaching career dates back to the 1980s, originally joined the Angels in 2020 as a special assistant to general manager Perry Minasian. He eventually took over as the interim bullpen coach the following year and remained in that role for 2022.

Chiti spent the 2023 season with the New York Mets as their full-time bullpen coach. Now back with the Angels, Chiti will be responsible for developing the team’s young arms.
