Don't be surprised if Lastings Milledge is the Mets' starting leftfielder after the All-Star break, says Anthony Rieber of Newsday. Milledge, a.k.a. L Millz, has been tearing the cover off the ball during his rehab assignment, abusing Double-A pitchers to the tune of a .435 average with 3 homers and 8 RBI in five games with the Binghamton Mets. Millz had ben sidelined with a sprained foot ligament since April, perhaps slipping below Carlos Gomez on the organization's depth chart in the process.

  • The Mets have nothing to lose by playing Lastings. He's probably as good of an option as anybody else and if they are intent on moving him, there's nothing better for trade value than letting him play in Shea.
