Shelby Miller pitched into the fifth inning, then found out he'd won the fifth spot in the St. Louis rotation as the Cardinals beat the Minnesota Twins 4-3 Monday. Miller, who had been competing with Joe Kelly for the last spot, gave up one run and six hits in 4 1-3 innings. He struck out two and walked two. Twins starter Mike Pelfrey struck out four, walked one and gave up one run and five hits in five innings. He has a 5.52 ERA after five spring starts. Miller Time In Busch Stadium

And the Prospect Gods looked down at the Cardinals pitching staff and proclaimed, "And so it Shelby..." But the Gods decided to keep Oscar Taveras for themselves -- at least for a little while. Bunch of Federalist-loving pigs. So, the Cardinals make up for starting Jon Jay over Oscar Taveras by giving prospect, Shelby Miller, the 5th starter role over non-descript-in...

And the winner is....Shelby Miller

After much speculation, the Cardinals finally made it official today by naming Shelby Miller as their 5th starter.  Miller beat out Joe Kelly for the role. With the recent injury to Jason Motte opening up a spot in the bullpen, for which Kelly was better suited, many had already guessed the direction the Cardinals would go.  It was even more clear after how Miller and Kelly were...

Fantasy Take: Kyle Lohse Signing

Kyle Lohse finally signed with a team today, and that means he should be off your fantasy team by this weekend.Look, if he's on your waiver wire, you've got to add him. Unless you found a mega sleeper, he's going to be better than your last-round pick. And if you drafted him in a late round, waiting for the day he would sign, that's a smooth move. But I don't...

Having Mottrimony Issues? Call Mitchell Boggs, Attorney at SAGNOF

If you're like me, once you finish your fantasy draft, you have a photographer take a picture of you with your team. You pull up your team page on your laptop, and the both of you sit next to a flower bed. The setting is similar to your mother's yearbook picture. The cameraman even uses the filter that blurs out everything around you. As you wait for the makeup person...

Decisions on futures of Rule 5 picks Fields, Pressly to be made soon

As spring training comes to a close, players selected in December's Rule 5 draft are faced with great uncertainty due to the unusual rules surrounding the event. If a player selected in the draft does not stay on the claiming team's 25-man roster for the entire season, he must be offered back to his original team instead of being sent to the minors. If the claiming team wants...

The Minnesota Twins are not among the teams that are scouting free agent Kyle Lohse as he works out in Arizona, according to Darren Wolfson of 1500 ESPN. In case you're curious, #MNTwins are not among the teams watching Lohse throw simulated games in AZ. Official: "Why go? He's playing catch." — Darren Wolfson (@DarrenWolfson) March 24, 2013 ...

Way to go, Minnesota

Because the state of Minnesota is grossly maladjusted in their perspective as to what the caliber of their college basketball program is, they were disappointed that the Gophers only won their first tournament game since 1997. And even then, the win in 1997 was mired in academic scandal. The last clean tournament win was 20 years ago! The Gophers were awful for 6 years under Dan...
