Found April 04, 2012 on Fox Sports:
The sellout crowd in the Miami Marlins' new ballpark cheered the introduction of their starters, who were accompanied by women dressed as Latin showgirls. There was another roar for Muhammad Ali, who delivered the first pitch. Then Kyle Lohse and the World Series champion St. Louis Cardinals went to work, and the place grew quiet. Lohse held Miami hitless until the seventh inning and pitched into the eighth to help the Cardinals win the first game in Marlins Park, 4-1 Wednesday night. The Marlins' new animated home-run sculpture never budged. It was the fourth inning before they even managed a baserunner, and by the time they scored in the eighth, they trailed 4-0. The crowd of 36,601 included newly retired Cardinals manager Tony La Russa, who quietly rooted for his former team from the press box. He watched Lohse retire the first 10 batters before hitting Emilio Bonifacio with a pitch. The runner was erased when Hanley Ramirez grounded into a double play. Newcomer Jos...

Berkman bashes Marlins Park

St. Louis Cardinals first baseman Lance Berkman doesn't appear to care much for the new Miami Marlins stadium, saying, "there were a lot of shenanigans."

Carlos Zambrano hopes fish tanks at Marlins Park will relieve his stress

Carlos Zambrano must have spent the offseason with Phil Jackson, because dude is sounding like a Zen master. Big Z, who was acquired by the Marlins in January, says his favorite part about the new Marlins Ballpark is the aquariums behind home plate because of their calming presence. “I don’t know how many people have fish tanks in their house but psychologists say it can make...

2012 MLB Preview: St. Louis Cardinals

There have been a few changes since last we saw the World Champion St. Louis Cardinals. You may have heard something about this. First, Tony La Russa is not managing the team for the first time since 1996. I didn’t have email in 1996. Second, 1b Albert Pujols has moved on to greener pastures, signing a 10 year, 240 million dollar contract with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim...

You Want To Know Why Jeffrey Loria Is A Giant Asshole? Here’s Why

The legend of Jeffrey Loria being a Grade A asshole are legendary and go back to his days of holding the city of Montreal hostage over a baseball stadium deal. His charade eventually found its way to South Florida and the Marlins franchise. He eventually got his wish for Miami taxpayers to foot most of the bill to build Marlins Ballpark, which just happened to open tonight. What...

With new stadium, Marlins have high hopes

MIAMI The St. Louis Cardinals opened a new stadium in 2006. They were fitted for rings in the first season. The New York Yankees moved into new digs in 2009. They immediately won the World Series. It remains to be seen what will happen in the first year for Miami in the new Marlins Park. But theres enough history on their side that the Marlins, who open the regular season in their...

Miami Marlins new park includes trendy nightclub with bikini-clad women

The BP First Take: Wednesday, April 4 by Daniel Rathman

When Josh Johnson takes the mound tonight and throws the first stateside pitch of the 2012 regular season, he will be making his third consecutive appearance as the Marlins’ Opening Day starter. The difference is that, for the first time in those three seasons, Johnson’s team projects to be a contender. The 28-year-old Johnson had his 2011 campaign cut short by a shoulder injury...

Bats Silent Again

The Miami Marlins struggled offensively again on Thursday as they fell to the Cincinnati Reds 4-0 at Great American Ballpark.    Combined with Wednesday’s opening game, the Marlins have now managed a total of one run on seven hits this season.    Miami produced the least amount of runs in the Spring and it appears that offense has carried over into the regular season thus...

Morning Briefing - "Opening Day"

At this time, I would like anyone who thought Kyle Lohse would take a no-hitter into the 7th, raise their hand...I thought so. What else happened? David Freese picked up where he left off in October getting 3 hits, 2 RBI and a run. He's a popular pick for sleeper at 3B this year, we just wonder if he can stay healthy. Rafael Furcal got himself 3 hits, an RBI and a steal...

Cardinals minor league medical watch

The status of 16 injured St. Louis Cardinals farmhands missing the start of the 2012 regular season.

The Florida Marlins were a mess. They were a bland, unexciting team as recently as a year ago despite having Mike Stanton, Logan Morrison, Hanley Ramirez, and Josh Jonson on roster. Their stadium was run down and disheveled, and even their uniforms were lifeless and uninspired (despite having a dope hat). These Miami Marlins are far from their predecessor. Add some orange to the...
