David Freese had one extra thing to be thankful for on Thanksgiving. He escaped a single-vehicle accident without injury. Freese swerved to avoid a deer yesterday afternoon and struck a tree says Joel Currier of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
Police investigated the accident and confirmed the St. Louis Cardinals' third baseman was not injured. Police also confirmed alcohol was not a factor in the accident. Freese did not hit the deer, but his Range Rover was severely damaged.
The Cardinals have to be breathing a sigh of relief after learning of the accident. With the damage to Freese's vehicle, he is lucky to have walked away without injury.
Freese made his first All-Star team this past season. He hit .293/.372/.462. In his career, Freese has hit .296/.363/.446. He was the 2011 NLCS MVP as the Cardinals marched on to an eventual World Series title. He has been a main contributor to St. Louis' offense.
