The St. Louis Cardinals were very busy, creating news twice on Tuesday afternoon. First they released bench player and veteran Ty Wigginton, eating the veterans two-year, five million contract. Then, they made news again by trading reliever Mitchell Boggs to the Colorado Rockies in exchange for international slot money.

The move gives Boggs a new shot to rectify his career away from the Cardinals organization. The former eighth inning set-up man from 2012 had been in Memphis for a considerable amount of time and did not appear as if he was going to make it back to St. Louis any time soon.
The two moves should be well received by Cardinals fans as both Boggs and Wigginton were the two favorite whipping boys of the St. Louis fan base in 2013.
