The St. Louis Cardinals announced the signing of 27 of their 44 selections in the June first-year player draft. Among the signees were supplemental first-round picks Patrick Wisdom and Steve Bean, MLB.com reported. The Cardinals signed seven players drafted in the first 10 rounds. Another four of their 14 selections in the opening 10 rounds were still playing in the NCAA super-regionals this weekend. Wisdom, the 52nd pick overall, played third base for St. Mary’s (Calif.). Bean, a catcher chosen by the Cardinals with the 59th selection, spurned a chance to play college ball for Texas to sign out of Rockwell High School in Texas.
