The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports: Cardinals backup catcher Jason LaRue will retire because of the after-effects of a concussion suffered when he was kicked in the head by Reds pitcher Johnny Cueto during an Aug. 10 brawl in Cincinnati."I'm done," LaRue said. "It's a simple decision."La Rue, 36, estimates he has suffered "close to 20" concussions in his athletic career dating to high school football. Doctors said the next one cause symptoms at least as severe as what he now experiences."Riding in a car going to the doctors I'd have to close my eyes," he said. "It's one of the hardest things in the world to explain. You don't feel right.
