Carlos Gonzalez looked like well CarGo. He hit the ball hard during batting practice Tuesday before the Rockies hosted the San Francisco Giants at Coors Field. He sent four balls over the fence including two shots that landed in the upper deck in right field. CarGo who was taking BP for the first time since going on the disabled list on Aug. 5 with a sprained tendon of his right middle finger was pleased. Pleased enough in fact that he hopes to get sent out on a minor-league rehab assignment sooner rather than later. “I want to go on a rehab as soon as I can … probably in a few days” said Gonzalez who’s hitting .302 with a team-high 26 home runs and 70 RBIs. “Let’s see what (the Rockies) want to do but I want to play. We will wait and see where they send me.” Gonzalez said he still feels pain in the finger but he was encouraged by his swing. “It’s going to take a little longer to get my timing back but I’m happy with they way everything went today” he said. “(The finger) is still a little stiff but like the doctors have said it’s not going to be 100 percent until next year when I give it a lot of rest.”
