Thursday was like a holiday. The Captain was back! Everyone in Yankees Universe celebrated the big day. By that night, of course, the mood had changed, and with it, came a premium edition of the Blame Game.Actually, it's not fair to call it a game. It was more like an attack, directed towards Brian Cashman and the Yankees front office. At first, I didn't think the attack was warranted. After all, the plan had been for Jeter to return yesterday. He came back just one day early. You could hardly call that "rushing" him back. But, as I was informed on Twitter yesterday, Jeter had only nine at-bats during his rehab assignment. I was also informed that Jeter had not run enough during the assignment. So, I now think the attack was fair. But, not that fair. Before Thursday's game, the Yankees did say they counted Jeter's many sim game at-bats toward his recovery. Also, Jeter himself said that he had run plenty while preparing for his return. In any case, Jeter won&...

Yankees: Are you suspending Alex Rodriguez or not?

Let me get right to the point.  A-Rod Scores! (Photo credit: searching4jphotography) Is anyone else so sick of ESPN’s reporting on the MLB’s Biogenesis investigation? I get that with the NFL, NBA and even the NHL all off maintaining viewership becomes much tougher. Baseball is not everybody’s cup of tea and with the recent development of the MLB Network; die-hard baseball...

Report: A-Rod no-shows rehab game after meeting with MLB about Biogenesis

Alex Rodriguez had an interesting Friday, as he reportedly met with Major League Baseball to discuss his possible involvement with the now close Miami-based Biogenesis clinic. According to documents, A-Rod allegedly received performance-enhancing drugs from the clinic, which was run by Anthony Bosch, who is cooperating with MLB on their investigation. While no statement has been...

Rushing Derek Jeter back to the Yankees after just four rehab starts...gee, what could go wrong?

Why do teams spend a slew of money on having spring training that lasts over a month? In Yankeeland, apparently all you need to be ready for the season is to play in four games, after not having any game time since October, and you are ready to go, even if it's July and you are coming off a major injury where you have already had one big setback. (Hat tip to Scott from my Facebook...

Report: A-Rod, MLB may reach a deal

Alex Rodriguez and Major League Baseball may reportedly be working on a deal that would result in a lengthy suspension for the slugger.

Alex Rodriguez, MLB reportedly working on suspension plea deal

Major League Baseball may have enough evidence against Alex Rodriguez in the latest performance-enhancing drug scandal that the New York Yankees slugger is looking to cop a plea deal. According to the NY Daily News, Rodriguez’s lawyers and MLB are having internal discussions about coming to an agreement on a 150-game suspension. MLB’s policy on [...]

Yankees Alex Rodriguez looking at 150-game suspension?

While a recent report suggested that MLB could attempt to suspend Alex Rodriguez for life, it appears that another angle may be taken by Bud Selig and major league baseball. According to a report from the New York Daily News, Alex Rodriguez could face a 150-game suspension from MLB due to his connection with the Biogenesis clinic. This is the second time a report suggested...

A-Rod 0 for 3; skipped Friday's game

New York Yankees star Alex Rodriguez struck out twice and went hitless Saturday in his latest minor league game, a day after declining to join the New York Yankees' Triple-A team. Rodriguez was 0 for 3 for Class A Tampa, dropping to 2 for 18 with one RBI and five strikeouts during his injury rehabilitation assignment. Rodriguez met Friday in the Tampa with Major League Baseball...

Although not an All-Star, New York Yankee Hiroki Kuroda is one of the premier pitchers in baseball today

Yielding six hits and fanning five over five innings, Yankees ace Hiroki Kuroda stifled Minnesota Twins batters in a 2-0 victory on Friday night in New York. After a 73-minute rain delay, Yankees manager Joe Girardi showed balls and allowed the 38-year-old Kuroda (8-6, 2.65 ERA) to return in the fifth to qualify for the win. Leading the AL with the smallest ERA amongst starters,...

Alex Rodriguez 'definitely' not ready for big league return, experiencing soreness

As the drama surrounding players involved in the Biogenesis scandal swirls, Alex Rodriguez faces two hurdles ahead of him.  One is the investigation that may land him a 50-game, or even 100-game, suspension.  The second hurdle is closing in fast.  There are 10 days left on Rodriguez's rehab clock, and he's not ready to return. Jon Heyman of CBS Sports says Rodriguez...

Derek Jeter Ruled Out Until After All-Star Break With Quad Strain

NEW YORK — Derek Jeter will miss the Yankees’ weekend series against Minnesota with a strained right quadriceps, and New York cannot rule out a return to the disabled list. After missing the first 91 games of the season because of a broken ankle, Jeter was activated Thursday and went 1 for 4 with an RBI groundout as the designated hitter against Kansas City. Yankees officials 'infuriated' at Alex Rodriguez for skipping rehab start

However...

"Bored to death:" Suzyn Waldman pans Moneyball

Yesterday, as their Yankees were defeating the Royals of Kansas City, John Sterling and Suzyn Waldman took listeners on a journey to the untruths of Tinsel Town, with a spontaneous review of the movie "Moneyball."Because the movie came out after 1957, John refuses to watch it. But Suzyn was far from impressed. It's a good thing the Captain returned, or the mere memory...

Will Jeter have to return to DL?

Derek Jeter will miss the Yankees' weekend series against Minnesota with a strained right quadriceps, and New York cannot rule out a return to the disabled list.

Samuel Deduno, Twins look to bounce back in New York

The New York Yankees are 5-0 against the Minnesota Twins so it's probably not a surprise that Phil Hughes' lone victory over his last five outings came in the season series. Hughes will look to end a career-worst five-game home slide and outduel Samuel Deduno for the second time this month Saturday. New York (51-42) is 9-8 in its last 17 games, with the majority of its...

Twins 10, Yankees 4

Aaron Hicks hit a three-run homer a pitch after shortstop Eduardo Nunez made a two-out throwing error, and the Minnesota Twins took advantage of some Yankees miscues and misfortune to beat CC Sabathia for the first time in six years and end more than a decade of misery in the Bronx with a 10-4 win Sunday. Justin Morneau had three hits - two very well placed - as Minnesota took two...
