Devoted Cubs fans have yet to turn on their struggling team at Wrigley Field where they are a National League-worst 26-42 at home even after Saturday's 4-3 victory over the Phillies. "We have great fans and right now probably have some understanding fans" manager Dale Sveum said. An announced crowd of 36410 saw the Cubs win for just the fourth time in their last 21 games at the so-called Friendly Confines. Yet fans have yet to let loose with massive booing or negative chants. "They love to support us" said Cubs starter Chris Rusin who went five innings and wound up with a no-decision. "They always want us to play hard and that's what we try to do." The Cubs took a 4-3 lead in the sixth inning when Starlin Castro led off with his eighth homer of the season his first in a month. "It was a fastball in the middle and I hammered it" Castro said of the 410-foot blast to center field. Then Cubs fans held their breath as relievers Carlos Villanueva James Russell Blake Parker Pedro Strop and Kevin Gregg took turns keeping the Phillies off the scoreboard. "We've had a little trouble with (closing games) sometimes" Sveum said with a nervous chuckle. "But you get the matchups and see how it goes. Villanueva got four huge outs. Then you can match up to do some things." The Cubs had tied the game 3-3 in the fifth when Cole Gillespie drove in his second run of the game with a sacrifice fly to center. Phillies starter Cliff Lee went five innings allowing three runs on nine hits. He walked three and struck out four. "Guys had a good approach" Sveum said. "We got some hits got some slugging off him. He's not going to walk a whole lot of guys so you need some slugging." The Phillies had grabbed a 3-2 lead in the fourth inning when Michael Young tripled into the right-field corner. Young who was 3-for-5 has hit safely in nine straight games against the Cubs and is a .412 career hitter against them (21-for-51).
