Hagadone Placed On Disqualified List Due To Self-Inflicted Injury

The news just keeps getting worse for Nick Hagadone. It turns that following his poor performance with the Indians on Friday night, the Tribe left-handed reliever suffered a self-inflicted injury to his left wrist and reportedly broke a bone in his left hand (per Matt Underwood on today’s telecast). As a result, Hagadone has been placed on the minor league disqualified list, which...

Indians option LHP Hagadone to Triple A

The Indians have sent slumping left-hander Nick Hagadone to Triple-A Columbus. The Indians will play with a 24-man roster Saturday against the Tampa Bay Rays, then recall left-hander Scott Barnes on Sunday. Barnes was optioned to Columbus on June 28. Hagadone went 1-0 with a 6.39 ERA in 27 relief appearances for Cleveland. He had a 0.87 ERA after nine outings, but had been hit...

Indians could be big players at trade deadline

One of the Cleveland Indians' two All-Stars, closer Chris Perez, blew a save and gave up three runs in the ninth inning as the Indians lost 7-6 to Tampa Bay on Sunday. The Indians go into the All-Star break with a record of 44-41, in second place in the AL Central, three games behind first-place Chicago. Indians officials say they are relatively pleased with the way the team...

Indians honor Hall of Famer Larry Doby

CLEVELAND (AP) -- Former Indians star pitcher Jim "Mudcat" Grant says renaming a street for Larry Doby is an honor due the late Hall of Famer. Rays Blast Masterson Early And Often

In his last six starts, Justin Masterson had allowed just 9 earned runs in 42 innings pitched while walking 9 and striking out 36. Last night, that positive streak hit a speed bump as Masterson was shelled for the first time since late May, allowing eight earned runs in less than five innings as the Rays pounded the Tribe 10-3 in game two of their four-game series heading into the...

Indians look for fourth straight against struggling Rays

The Cleveland Indians aren't making up any ground in the AL Central race, but they've been playing better of late. The Tampa Bay Rays can't make that claim. Cleveland will try to match a season high with a fourth consecutive win Friday night when it continues its four-game series against the visiting Rays. Since totaling 11 runs during a season-worst five-game skid, the...

Sheilds, Rays close first half in Cleveland

The Cleveland Indians have a chance to head into the All-Star break with a fifth win in six games. A rare series victory against the Tampa Bay Rays also will be within their grasp Sunday at Progressive Field. Although the Indians (44-40) spent 35 consecutive days atop the AL Central, reaching the break in second place is a nice accomplishment for a team that hasn't had a winning...
