Mariners pitcher Hisashi Iwakuma says he needs better control of pitches next time out
Just got done speaking to Mariners pitcher Hisashi Iwakuma, seen in photo next to interpreter Daisuke Sekiba. Iwakuma said he started off well, but did not have good enough control of his pitches in that second inning when he got hit hard and saw three runs score before the frame was halted.

Another Mariners intra-squad game has come and gone, this one won 7-3 by Team 2 after it fell behind 2-0 early on.

Hisashi Iwakuma to make intrasquad debut with Mariners tomorrow
Theyu just put out the list of pitchers throwing in tomorrow's intrasquad game and Hisashi Iwakuma tops the list of Team 1. Iwakuma is slotted to throw two innings atop that team's rotation, while Jason Vargas is to throw three innings for Team 2.
Vargas, you'll recall, retired all seven hitters he faced -- striking out four -- in Friday's first intrasquad affair.

Mariners mum on why Franklin Gutierrez left camp this morning

Mariners center fielder Franklin Gutierrez injured
Seattle manager Eric Wedge said Franklin Gutierrez appeared to suffer a pectoral muscle injury. The team is waiting for results from an MRI Gutierrez had Tuesday.
Mariners taking field for intra-squad game
Franklin Gutierrez, seen in the photo above taking BP earlier this morning, will be starting in center and batting leadoff for Team 2 today in his first spring training intra-squad action. Jesus Montero will be batting cleanup for Team 2 and catching.
