PLAYERS: Cesar Puello
TEAMS: New York Mets
Cesar Puello is currently one of the hottest hitters in the Mets organization. Over his last ten games, he is hitting a very solid .364, with two home runs and nine RBI. His OPS over that ten game span is an outstanding 1.031. Puello started off the season slow, but has really kicked things into high gear over the past couple of weeks. He is starting to live up to his reputation of once being considered a top prospect. He fell out of favor a little bit after two down years in 2011 and 2012 with St. Lucie, but he seems to be back on track, dominating Double-A pitching of late. Puello, 22, now ranks in the Eastern League – top 15 for batting average, top ten for home runs, top ten for OPS, top ten for SLG, top ten for stolen bases, and top 15 for RBI. He is having a dominant season. Most of the production has come against left-handed pitchers who he is torching for a ridiculous .410 batting average, with four home runs and a 1.260 OPS. If Puello keeps up this level of performance, he ...

It's official. Mets starter Matt Harvey is having the best year ever, both off the field and on.

Scout Says No Way Flores Can Play Any Position But First Base

As the Mets wait through a second rain delay and the score tied at 5-5 against the Braves, Ike Davis looked worse than ever tonight at Citi Field. The slumping first baseman is 0-4 with four strikeouts as they wait for the rain to stop. This has become unbearable. Meanwhile, Adam Rubin of ESPN New York reminds us that infield prospect Wilmer Flores continues to log time at first...

Cowgill and Nieuwenhuis Continue to Struggle in Minors

It’s been mentioned a lot this season, but the big league outfield of the New York Mets has a lot to be desired. Heading into spring training last February, there was hope one of the unproven outfielders brought into camp would step up to the challenge. Collin Cowgill did just that; he hit .303/.378/.591 in 66 spring training at-bats, and earned the honor of being the starting...

Give Justin Turner a chance at first base

Since the beginning of the 2012 season the Mets have been patient with Ike Davis’s struggles. They even kept him in the majors, allowing him to turn around his season, putting up a wRC+ of 141, offsetting his wRC+ of 79 in the first half. However, his start to this season has been nightmarish. Hitting a humbling line of .137/.236/.245, the public has expressed its discontent with...

Each reliever tossed a scoreless 1-2-3 inning and struck out one as they began their road back to the Mets. Familia, 22, who was placed on the disabled list with right biceps tendinitis...

Subway Series: Yankees vs. Mets

The 17th annual Subway Series (first was in 1997) starts tonight at Citi-Field, and other than sharing a city these two New York teams are heading in very different 2013 Subway Series. directions.
