According to MLB.com's Todd Zolecki, Phillies second baseman Chase Utley is currently at Citizens Bank Park. Zolecki reports that Utley is on the field playing catch with infielder Mike Fontenot. Zolecki also notes that Utley is working out here today, tomorrow he will go play for Triple-A Lehigh Valley and will be back in Philly on Wednesday most likely after being activated. Utley was moved up from Clearwater over the weekend and it was noted that he would continue his workouts and rehab with the IronPigs. If all is well for Utley, he could be in the starting lineup on Wednesday against the Pirates. If he does return Wednesday, Utley would be facing Pirate's righty A.J. Burnett. Schneider to DL The Phillies also placed catcher Brian Schneider on the DL this afternoon with a high ankle sprain. Schneider injured his ankle after colliding with Sean Rodriguez. Taking Schneider's place on the roster will be Erik Kratz, who has been up with the team so many times this ye...

Thome Walks It Off; Utley Back By Wednesday?

Chase Utley could return to the Phillies' lineup by Wednesday, according to CSNPhilly.com. The good news for the Phillies on Saturday was two-fold — they had their second walkoff win of the season on Jim Thome‘s ninth inning opposite field solo home run, and according to CSNPhilly.com, Chase Utley is headed back to the Philadelphia area and could be back in the Phillies’...

Utley does not think his Wednesday return will be too late

Philadelphia Phillies second baseman Chase Utley worked out with the Phillies on Monday, and if all goes well in his final rehab game on Tuesday with Triple-A Lehigh Valley, Utley will be activated and bat third for the Phillies on Wednesday. Utley has been on the disabled list since the season started because of chondromalacia in his left knee. Although the team is in last place...

The Philadelphia Phillies reportedly are planning to activate shortstop Chase Utley on Wednesday. Utley, who is on a minor-league rehabilitation assignment, is expected to play for Class AAA Lehigh Valley on Tuesday and then make his major-league debut the next day, according to CSNPhilly.com. The 10-year veteran has yet to play this season after suffering from a degenerative...

Utley says he's ready to return

He has almost been an out of sight and out of mind figure through the first three months of the 2012 season. But as Philadelphia Phillies second baseman Chase Utley sat in the dugout at Citizens Bank Park on Monday, preparing to head to Triple-A Lehigh Valley to clear the final step in his road back from chondromalacia, he sounded like a player who is tired of watching people beat...

Chase Utley Forced to Wear No. 21 on Rehab Assignment Because Mascot Wears His No. 26

When superstars go on a rehab assignment, they usually get everything they want, including which jersey number they get to wear. It seems like that doesn't happen in Philadelphia. The Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs mascot FeRROUS wears Chase Utley's No. 26, so Utley now has to wear No. 21 for the first time in his career when he begins his rehab assignment with the Triple-A Iron...

We hope Chase can return to form sooner rather than later to help this ball club get back on track.

Utley Hits Homerun in Last Tune-Up, Howard heading to Rehab Assignment?

Chase Utley homered in his last rehab stint tonight at AAA Lehigh Valley. He went 2 for 5 with a single as well. He did strike out twice. The Iron Pigs won the game 10-3 over the Rochester Red Wings. He should return to the major league lineup tomorrow vs. the Pirates where it will most likely be a "pitching by committee" game for the Phils due to the double header on Sunday...

Phillies' Howard may start rehab assignment Thursday

Second baseman Chase Utley is expected to return to the Phillies lineup this week, and Phillies first baseman Ryan Howard apparently is close to starting his rehab assignment. Howard will be in Philadelphia for "functional testing" on his Achilles tendon on Wednesday, according to a press release. If those tests indicate his Achilles is strong enough, Howard will start...

Eternally Optimistic Phillies Fan is eternally optimistic

The hopes of another postseason may rest on these two players. We are creeping up on the All-Star Break and the Philadelphia Phillies, winners of five consecutive NL East Division championships, sit eight games behind the NL East leading Washington Nationals, and are ten games back in the loss column. At 35-40 the Phillies are in unfamiliar territory right now and just...
