TEAMS: Chicago Cubs
Air travelers passing through Chicago O’Hare International Airport can now get a taste of the Friendly Confines and take a piece of Cubs history home to share with family and friends. The Chicago Cubs today unveiled the Cubs Bar & Grill, which is a licensing deal with HMSHost and the Chicago Department of Aviation. Jorge Soler knocked-in three runs with a bases-loaded double, walked twice, and scored a run, Jacob Rogers singled twice, walked, drove-in a run, and scored another, and Gioskar Amaya laced an RBI single and walked twice, leading the Cubs to a 7-4 victory over the Athletics in Arizona Instructional League action this afternoon at Fitch Park Field #3 in Mesa. Assorted Chicago Cubs ramblings

Long, arduous, never-ending, horrid, tough, stomach-churning …   I could go on with words and phrases that quickly sum up the Chicago Cubs’ 2012 season.   As we all think, ponder, discuss this season, I am stuck focusing on next season.  While a week and change may be left, next spring is all that matters to me when it comes to professional baseball. And, I hope that a Ramblings...

Q&A: Albert Almora, Cubs First-Round Pick

Albert Almora is both young and extremely talented. The 18-year-old outfielder was taken sixth overall in this year’s amateur draft, and upon signing became one of the top prospects in the Chicago Cubs system. A right-handed hitting outfielder, he hit .321 between rookie ball and low-A Boise. Showing his inexperience, he logged 15 extra-base hits but walked just twice in 123 plate...

Adam Greenberg will get his one last at bat

I'm not sure how many people have been following the Adam Greenberg story, but here's the jist of it: in 2005, 24-year old Chicago Cubs prospect Adam Greenberg made his major league debut, and was hit in the head by Florida Marlins reliever Valerio de los Santos on the first pitch of the game. Greenberg would suffer a concussion on the plunking, and would deal with post-concussion...

Road to 100 losses

The Cubs currently have 95 losses with 8 games to play. PECOTA projects them to go 3-5 over the final week of the season giving them a final record of 62-100. Only the 1962 and 1966 Cubs have lost more than 98 games (each team lost 103). The Cubs would have to go 5-3 just [...]

Adam Greenberg Signs With the Marlins

Normally, I don’t make a post about minor signings like this, but this is more than just a signing. Greenberg had 1 major league plate appearance and was hit in the head with the first pitch he faced. Greenberg was drafted by the Chicago Cubs in the 9th round of the 2002 MLB draft out of North Carolina. Greenberg worked his way up the system and was in Double A by mid-2005. This...

Cubs vs. Rockies – Something to Pass the Time Until the Next Football Game

So the Cubs are playing the Rockies. As much as I have a hard time knowing who the Cubs are allowing to play these days, I have no ******* clue who the Rockies are running out there on a daily basis. I think Tyler Colvin? Is he still a thing for them? Does anyone care? [...]

Greenberg To Get His At-Bat

On July 9, 2005, Adam Greenberg of the Chicago Cubs came to the plate for the first time as a Major League Baseball player.  It was an undoubtedly a life long dream being accomplished for the young outfielder and it came to a sudden end.  A campaign has been underway this year to get Greenberg one official at-bat in the big leagues.   On Tuesday October 2, he will get that at...

Brewers Pitching Magnifico at Maryvale

Mitch Haniger belted a solo home run with one out in the bottom of the 4th to break a scoreless tie, and four pitchers combined to toss a four-hit shutout, as the Brewers blanked the Cubs 3-0 in Arizona Instructional League action this afternoon at Maryvale Baseball Park Field #7 (AKA “Paul Molitor Field”) in Phoenix. Cubs-Rockies Preview

With the way things have played out, both the Chicago Cubs and Colorado Rockies have had to revisit their goals. They're not particularly glamorous. In a matchup featuring two teams trying to avoid 100-loss seasons, the Cubs and Rockies open a three-game set Tuesday night at Coors Field. Chicago and Colorado enter play with identical 59-94 records, needing to win four of their...
