Next week, Atlanta Braves 3rd baseman Chipper Jones will be making his 8th appearance in the All-Star game during his 18-year career. Jones didn’t initially make the All-Star team but was selected earlier this week to replace injured Matt Kemp. Making the All-Star game is a fitting end for the soon to be Hall of Famer, who announced that he will be retiring at the end of this year. Jones has played well in his last season in the bigs and is currently hitting .313 with 6 homers and 29 RBI. With his 6 HR’s this year, he’s hit a total of 460 in his career.  Sitting at 2,666 hits and with only a little more than half of a season to go, it looks like he’s going to fall short of the 3,000 hit mark.  He had some monster years between 1998 and 2003 with 2001 being his best year when he hit .330 with 38 HR’s and 102 RBI.  He’s a career .304 hitter and has always been solid in the field at 3B and LF.
