The finish to the last regular season of Chipper Jones' career ended the same way it started: with a single. Jones pinch hit in the sixth inning of Wednesday's Braves finale with the Pirates, and on the first pitch he saw from AJ Burnett, he sliced a single into right field. Jones would score later in the inning, the final run scored of his career. Atlanta's season isn't over quite yet, as the Braves will play the Cardinals in the Wild Card playoff game on Friday, and Atlanta is hoping to send Jones out with a World Championship, the same way he came into the league in 1995. For his career, Jones will finish with a line of .303/.401/.529, just the seventh player in MLB history with a .300/.400/.500 stat line in over 10,000 plate appearances. He'll also finish with 2726 hits (57th all-time), 468 homers (32nd all-time), 1619 runs (45th all-time), and 1623 RBI (31st all-time). Jones will go down in history as one of the best third basemen and one of the best switch hitters in history, and he finished his career with a .300 batting average from both the left and right sides of the plate.
