Bad news for the Texas Rangers. Not only do they have to recover from choking in Game 6, they have to bounce back against Chris Carpenter. The St. Louis Cardinals ace has been in a ton of big games and has a proven track record of stepping up big. For proof, you just have to look back to the Cardinals series against the Philadelphia Phillies. In that Game 7, Carpenter threw a three-hit shutout to lead the Cardinals to a 1-0 victory. In two starts against the Rangers, Carpenter has pitched well. In 13 total innings, he’s given up 11 hits and four earned runs. If he pitches like he did against the Phillies, Carpenter could pitch his way into winning the World Series MVP. As for the Rangers, they are putting their trust in Matt Harrison. In the regular season, he was 14-9 with a 3.39 ERA. However, in the postseason, his ERA is 5.02 and he allowed three runs in 3.2 innings against the Cardinals in the only game he pitched so far in the 2011 World Series.
