Chris Stewart Finally Hits First Major League Home Run

San Francisco Giants catcher Chris Stewart hit his first major league home run in tonight’s 6-0 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates. Stewart has been a professional ballplayer since 2002, when he played 42 games of rookie ball for the Chicago White Sox. He made his major league debut with the Sox four years later, on Sept. 6, 2006. He has spent time in the Sox, Texas Rangers, New York Yankees, San Diego Padres and Giants organizations. Overall, he has played 717 games in the minors and 67 games in the majors. He has 31 minor league long balls but none in the majors prior to tonight. Tonight, he was responsible for what Giants announcer Dave Fleming called one of his favorite moments of the season.
