For a few of baseball’s elite pitchers, visions of dollar signs likely accompanied the news of Felix Hernandez reportedly signing a record-breaking, seven-year, $175 million contract extension with the Mariners. One pitcher who could soon find himself on the receiving end of a huge payday is Clayton Kershaw, and Dodgers general manager Ned Colletti admitted that there is “mutual interest” between Kershaw and the club. “This is not going to be a daily discussion point for us publicly. But there is a mutual interest,” Colletti said, according to the Los Angeles Times. Kershaw, who at 24 is two years younger than Hernandez, is slated to become a free agent after the 2014 season. There has been plenty of speculation in the past that Kershaw, who is set to make $11 million in 2013, could someday become the first pitcher to earn a $30 million annual salary. The news of Hernandez’s extension, which will reportedly give the Seattle ace $25 million a year, only increases the odds of Kershaw ...

Dodgers Fan Jeremy Dorn an MLB Fan Cave Finalist

The 2013 MLB Fan Cave contest is well under way for its third season. Last month, Major League Baseball revealed it’s list of the top 50 candidates out of the tens of thousands of submissions. Dodgers sign Mark Lowe and move Chris Withrow, Pedro Baez to the 'pen

The Dodgers and Mark Lowe had basically been dancing around for a couple weeks and finally came to an agreement on Friday. If Lowe makes the team as a non-roster invitee, he'll earn a $1.5 million base salary. With incentives, he could earn $2.1 million. Lowe's 2012, despite a nice ERA (3.43), didn't really pitch all that well. His 4.32 FIP was on the high side...

Felix Hernandez’s Record-Setting Contract a Perfect Deal for Both Sides, Also Good for Clayton Kershaw

Every executive on every team outside of Seattle just groaned a little bit. Felix Hernandez has reportedly signed a seven-year, $175 million extension with the Mariners, making him the highest-paid pitcher in baseball history. The 26-year-old phenom had two years remaining on his deal, but by inking the monster extension, Hernandez will no longer hit the open market following the...

Seattle just lost their minds

Felix Hernandez is an incredible pitcher. I'd take Clayton Kershaw over him, sure, and maybe Matt Cain. Other than that, though, Felix might be the most valuable pitcher in the game today. That being said, he's not worth 7 years and $25 million a year. No pitcher is (or, I should say, was), unless he is vintage Pedro or Maddux. Unfortunately (for the Mariners), that's...

Clayton Kershaw – Kershaw has been on the backburner behind Verlander the...
