Sporting News staff reports The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports former Rockies manager Clint Hurdle will be the Rangers' new hitting coach. Hurdle was one of four finalists for the job, along with Thad Bosley, Gerald Perry and Rusty Greer. The Rangers deny that any decision has been reached, but three sources told the newspaper that Hurdle is the team's choice. An official announcement is expected to come after the World Series. Hurdle was the Rockies' hitting coach from 1997-2002, when he was promoted to manage the team. In seven-plus seasons as manager, Hurdle went 534-625 and led Colorado to the 2007 World Series. However, he was fired on May 29 after the Rockies opened this season with an 18-28 record. Hurdle will replace Rudy Jaramillo in Texas. Jaramillo recently signed a three-year deal to become the Cubs' hitting coach.
