Gulp.

The Pittsburgh Pirates had two important players, agruably the biggest, go down with injuries today.  James McDonald (discomfort left side) and Andrew McCutchen (left wrist) left the game against the Rays, a 9-8 victory for the Bucs.

It could be minor injuries, but just the thought of such bad news from the baseball Gods (that we begged to have mercy just 24 hours ago) scared many Pirates fans.  Apparently, McCutchen reported the injury to Hurdle in the dugout.  McDonald clutched his left side on the pitchers mound and was unable to continue.

Both injuries seem mysterious and the Pirates did nothing to take away from the mystery.  After the game, Pirates Manager Clint Hurdle let us know that he isn’t a doctor.  He won’t talk about injuries he told reporters.

Frankly, we like this concept.  When the experts take a look at it, then and we trust only then, the Bucs might provide some information.  Why would they want any information out there that could be incorrect?  The team has suffered from misinformation on a number of topics over the years.  Fans really don’t need that again.

Rob Biertempfel isn’t crazy about this information breakdown:
