I know the title above pretty much sums up what you are about to read, but I just can't help myself. Feel free to vent in the comments at the end of the post. Tony Jackson of ESPNLA says the Dodgers are near an agreement with veteran infielder Adam Kennedy. The terms of the deal were not immediately available, but I have checked in with Dylan Hernandez via Twitter to see if he has heard anything, no response yet. I'll update the terms of the deal once I get word back.

Kennedy, 36, will move join the Dodgers in 2012, his eighth team in twelve professional season, as he strives to complete his quest of playing for every franchise in baseball.

In 2011 for the Mariners, Kennedy hit .234 with seven home runs and 38 RBIs in 114 games played. Just what the Dodgers needed, right? Yes, Kennedy can play first, second, and third, so he is almost a true utility infielder, just not a very good one. Notice that important position of short stop being left off? Um wasn't that the whole point of a backup infielder? Defensively he is probably average at best these days, and offensively, well he's certainly not the player he was for the Angels back in the early part of the 2000's

I think the thing most maddening thing about this signing is it probably means the end of the Aaron Miles era in Dodgertown. Jerry Hairston Jr. was certainly not a better option, but why not just bring back Miles? I am sure Colletti is thinking Kennedy can be a reliable bat off the bench, but what's the reality here? After all, just two seasons ago Kennedy hit .289 and hit out 11 homers with the A’s. Yep Ned Colletti is singing the serenade of "Livin' on a Prayer" again. Those hallucinogens are running wild in the Dodgers front office, get 'em while they last. Hey, maybe that could be the new song for the late innings! I can almost hear it now, yep you know you wanna sing it.

Let's face it Uribe, Ellis, Loney, and Kennedy (since he will pretty much be a regular with Uribe and Ellis missing most of the season) just don't have the look of a World Series infield. But when you are livin' on a prayer I guess anything can happen.

This is where we all let out a big sigh and thank our wonderful GM for a job well done. A guy who would be lucky to get a non-roster invite will likely get a guaranteed deal, heck knowing good ol' Ned it's probably a multi-year deal. Is he better than Justin Sellers? Depends on who you ask. You ask Ned and he will come up with some he's going to return to that, yeah yeah yeah we have all heard this too many times. Ned just can't help himself. Get ready to add him to the list of Brian Giles, Garrett Anderson, Juan Castro, and it just keeps going and going like that little pink bunny. Yep that's right, Colletti strikes again.
