Bartolo Colon left the 2-1 loss to the Padres on Sunday with a right oblique strain after throwing wildly on a sacrifice bunt by Alexi Amarista in the third inning. That is likely to mean a disabled list stay for Colon, who is one of only two experienced starters in Oakland's rotation, along with Brandon McCarthy. Entering the season, none of the other starters had more than 12 career starts in the big leagues. Colon is 6-7 with a 4.22 ERA. He allowed one run Sunday in his two-plus innings of work. He said via interpreter Ariel Prieto that he incurred the injury while going to get the ball and he knew right away he would have to come out because "it feels bad." Earlier in the day, the A's had sent out Saturday's spot starter, Tyson Ross, in order to go back to a full bullpen of seven relievers, which turned out to be prudent.
