I know I am a good 24+ hours tarty on this, but I don’t care. Yesterday afternoon, Mariano Rivera closed out the New York Yankees’ victory over the Minnesota Twins and in the process earned the 602nd save of his career. Considering Mariano Rivera tied Trevor Hoffman atop the all-time saves leader board over the weekend, most of you are probably aware that he is now in sole possession of the top spot. My favorite part of the historic moment was the post game conference when Kim Jones (I think) asked Mariano Rivera if this meant that he was the best closer of all-time. In his unwavering professional manner, Mariano Rivera stated that he would never say that. Guess what Mo? You are, hands down, without a shred of a doubt, the greatest closer to EVER step on a mound. There is no question about it. Anybody who tries to argue should be sent to Madagascar. Once again, congratulations to Mariano Rivera for taking over the No. 1 spot on the all-times saves list.
